Necklace, Ring, Bracelet

The memories I sift aside, savor it for later

Hope not to use up all the flavor

The present’s already sitting in the past

How can I make the moments of us last?

I find a way to recollect, but never over-collect

The pieces of memory, already folded in reverie

Time running its frigid fingers across the edges

Bluntly, with forlorn hope, cutting away the hedges

Safe from sorrow, protected from the morrow

But safer still from the reality I fail to borrow

I keep this secret, spilled on the way to the grave

Praying that time will be kind, and I’ll find the courage to be brave

Keep these memories close to the heart

Warm it on the spit of the hearth

Wear me on your neck, finger, and wrist

And maybe the time will never be missed
