Indelible

You never made room for me

I spent a lifetime on my knees

Begging to be seen

To be loved more than the hate you carried

To be a future bigger than the past you wearied

But it was never enough

I was never enough for you to overcome yourself

And I blame myself still

For the life I could never till

Regret is a shallow grave

But nostalgia, an open coffin

Dreams live on, even when we wake

And love carries through our red line mistakes
