Fire and Stardust

Fuel for what fire?

Had I crumpled under sanctimonious desire?

I find in my heart growing regret

For the flames I should’ve set

Bitter and rotten I’ve grown

Helpless, I should’ve known

Fan the lick of the heat

Taste the oil so sweet

Feed the sacrificial lamb

Bathe in the dirty water we swam

Paint me red with the fuel of rebellion

Crucify my love for a hellion

In your arms, I thought we were a prayer

Hope for a future lain bare

If we go down now crumbling into ashes and dust

Save me the last song for when love fades from lust

Give us burial rites for when we depart

Take from me not the love in my heart

Forgive me and free me

For I have let feelings deceive me

If I let go of this life we’ve built together

I’ll see you in the stardust and aether
