Between Us

So much unsaid in the infinity between us

The silence holds us like an anchor

I wish we could sail away on the memories

Safe in our bubble of refuge

But the refuge we built is breaking down

I have fears we haven’t talked about

Regrets I will not name

For to give them a name

Is to give them a face

And I’m not ready to face the truth  

But I think about you all the time

It hurts to have you on my mind 

There’s these feelings I can’t outrun 

These demons that hide in the dark

And our dreams have begun to float away   

If given the universe, maybe we’d be stars 

If given the time, maybe we’d be eternal 

But the universe lies in the space between us

And our mortality is ticking away   

I fear Heaven isn’t big enough for the both of us
